The Sandwell Conservatives are calling upon the Council to restart food waste collections.
In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, Sandwell Council stopped collecting food waste in March. We understand that desperate times call for desperate measures. However, we can not allow the Council to use it as an excuse to take away this popular service.
The Acting Leader, Cllr Maria Crompton, has previously stated that she wants the Council to stop the food waste collection service. So the risk is now that the Council may never restart it.
Collecting food waste doesn't just make sense environmentally; It costs over £90 per tonne in Landfill tax alone. So collecting food waste saves your Council tax money, and prevents harmful methane from entering the environment. Something which is important now more than ever.
We encourage all Sandwell residents to sign the petition below and share it with their friends.
