The government Department of Education has approved plans for the building of a new secondary school in Oldbury.
The school, the first new secondary school to be opened in Sandwell for a decade, will be built on the site of the former Langley High school, in Moat Road in Oldbury.
It will be an academy sponsored by the Grace Charitable Trust, a foundation set up by businessman Eric Payne and his wife Grace. That foundation currently supports the Q3 Academy at Great Barr.
Stage one of the project is due to open in September 2016 with an initial intake of 120 year seven pupils, but ultimately the school will provide 1,200 places for local students.
