This Wednesday, Sandwell council’s cabinet is set to sanction road improvements at Cape Hill in Smethwick.
The road through Cape Hill is a notorious accident blackspot with forty casualties from road accidents in the last 5 years. The projected work will include improved lighting, a new pedestrian crossing, the re-siting of bus stops, new pavements and introduction of a 20m.p.h. speed limit.
Central government will fund over one third of the cost, the remainder will come from the council’s income surplus in 2013/2014.
