Local Sandwell campaigners have taken part in a "Street Clean Weekend", organised by Andy Street, Mayor of the West Midlands. Charlemont Road was chosen was the chosen area for the litter pick due to massive issues with littering and fly-tipping on this road due its secluded location.
A total of 16 bags were filled and a collection was organised by Sandwell Conservative Federation chairman Scott Chapman with Sandwell Council and Serco.
Sandwell Conservatives campaigner for Charlemont with Grove Vale Lee Williams says:
"I would like to thank everyone who attended this afternoon. We have done a fantastic job cleaning up our area. Thanks also to Andy Street who took time out of his busy schedule to give us a hand. The area was in a real mess but it looks much tidier now. Let’s hope it will stay that way”.
