GOVERNMENT CASH FOR SANDWELL POTHOLE REPAIR
In 2015-6 Sandwell council paid out £10,862 to meet claims for vehicle damage resulting from potholes in its roads. The compensation was more than 5 times the amount paid in the previous year.
Following on from the Autumn statement, the government has announced the money Sandwell will receive from its Pothole Fund for the coming year and it’s good news. Sandwell will get an extra £65,000 making a total of £225,000.
At an average repair cost of £53 per pothole, this provides the cash for approaching 4000 repairs. Government has given it the cash, we expect Sandwell council to get on with the job, provide safer roads and reduce compensation claims.
